So, you can't possibly be asking if we had a good time! Take a look at some of these pictures, and see if you could possibly have a good time in this paradise. The honeymoon planning was Gerry's project. He chose a place call Aventura Spa Palace in Cancun. It seems like it's the mecca of resorts, so picking took a little "doin". I have to say I'm pretty sure that we stayed in the nicest resort there was. It was an adult only resort which was also nice. Their "niche" was the spa. Which I had the great fortune of being able to take part of! I had a one hour hot stone massage, and a facial. But the thing that was so great about this spa was that not only did you get a great massage or facial, but it was a COMPLETE spa. Before you had your service they had an entire "ritual" to go through. First you laid down in a steam room, then they came to get you and put you in a hot/cold tub area. You walked through the hot tub, up the stairs to a cold tub and back to the hot tub where they had a sparkling drink waiting for you. There was one part of the "ritual" that was brutal, but part of the whole relaxation experience. There was a stand-up shower sort of thing enclosed in the corner with glass. They put you it and turned on the water...but the catch was that it was freezing cold water. I guess there is something about hold and cold shockers that are good for your body. It was fun.
Check it out if you get a chance: http://www.palaceresorts.com/Resorts/AventuraSpaPalace/Index.aspI'm sure some of you probably are wondering about the water there. Well its true, it's not recommended that you drink it, so as you can see from the picture, they even gave us bottled water each day at the sink so you could rinse. How thoughtful!
Oh, and one of my favorite parts was that since we were honey-mooners, our room had a bottle of champaign all chilled and waiting for us.
I can't forget to mention, that along with this really cool shower (it was really big..which you can't really tell from this picture), they had spa robes for each of us in the room. Really nice robes!
Once we got settled in we took a quick walk around the resort to see what there was waiting for us. It was just really great. There were 7 restaurants on the property. There was a Mediterranean restaurant next to the pool which is where lunch was served every day. It was pretty good.
The next morning we woke up bright and early to take a trip to Tulum. We saw the ancient ruins of the Mayan's. It was sooo hot that day! I thought for sure I was sweating more than I had ever sweat in my life. Even though Mexico is beautiful, it is still hot and humid. We had gone through the whole tour, then they said "over there is a beach. You can go there until it's time to go. Go over there to the edge and go down the stairs". And this is what we saw.
That night we ate at one of our favorite restaurants at the resort..a Japanese restaurant. It was so good! Gerry had so many things that I can't remember. He was certainly enjoying the fact that he could eat as much as he wanted. I do remember that we both had the Sushi that we liked. The service was GREAT! That is one thing that you just can't even imagine how wonderful it is. Anything you wanted or anything you asked for was yours. I've told people that if you would have asked one of the servers to bring their children to work the next day, they would!
